HORATIO 2010 Chardonnay Sauvignon Blanc
Vintage
2010 proved an exceptional vintage. Generous winter and spring rains replenished the soils, followed by fine conditions through flowering and an even fruit set. A mild summer and cooler-than-average temperatures allowed the fruit to ripen slowly and naturally, building remarkable flavour while retaining freshness and balance.
Winemaking
Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay were harvested in the cool of the early morning, then gently crushed and chilled before pressing. Extended skin contact encouraged greater aromatic intensity, while careful maturation — including time in French oak and on lees — brought texture, depth and complexity. The final blend was assembled with a focus on balance and bottled on the estate with minimal intervention to preserve its freshness and character.
Tasting Notes
Bright gold in the glass. Ripe pineapple and tropical fruit lead into playful notes of banana confection, softened by a subtle touch of French oak. Time on lees gives the palate beautiful texture and weight, balanced by a clean, bright finish. Generous and expressive now, with the structure to continue evolving gracefully in bottle.
